Twilight

Twilight (Twilight, #1)Twilight by Stephenie Meyer

My rating: 1 of 5 stars

I picked up this book before the movie came out because I was a huge fan of vampire stories. I occasionally like to entertain the idea of the good girl and bad boy vampire. YEAHH COOL. After reading I thought it was okay. Nothing special. Yes it was a let down, but I read it again the next time I pretended the name Edward was The Count (Sesame Street) and man that was a story.

"One shirtless werewolf, HA HA.
two shirtless werewolfs, HA HA.
three, THREE SHIRTLESS WERE WOLFS!!! HAHAHAHAHA"

I'm not even going to bother adding a tag to it. It's not really a book.

the art was kick ass and the story was well told. Alex Ross made the world of the old and new Justice League come to life from paper and paint.

Review: Entertain the End

Entertain the End (Everworld, #12)Entertain the End by Katherine Applegate

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I kind of jumped into these books right after Animorphs ended. I think I mostly liked it because of the dark fantasy elements. The characters were where okay. Somehow I wasn't able at the time to really make a connection with any character. They all seemed to have one liner issues that worked against them to the point where I didn't believe that these kids could be real. Also it didn't help any that the ending of the last book was open ended. I like everything to be resolved.

Review: Artemis Fowl

Artemis Fowl (Artemis Fowl, #1)Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I first found out about the book back in the Harry Potter phenomenon days. The critics were claiming it to be a Harry Potter competitor."Lies" I said to myself. Harry Potter was in a class of his own and there was no room in his school for anyone else. Well I later fell out of love with Harry Potter and I gave this book a second chance and listened to the Audio book. The books had all the qualities that I loved. Action, Magic-Tech, suspense and a main character that I could really like and hate at the same time.

Review: Blade of the Immortal, Volume 1: Blood of a Thousand

Blade of the Immortal, Volume 1: Blood of a ThousandBlade of the Immortal, Volume 1: Blood of a Thousand by Hiroaki Samura

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Picked this up back in high school when I was looking to read something with a little edge. "An immortal warrior contracted to help a young girl avenge her parents death". The artwork is beautiful and amazing. The action is beautifully drawn. Hiroaki Samura knows how to draw and tell a story to the fullest.

Review: The Forbidden

The Forbidden (Vampire Huntress Legend, #5)The Forbidden by L.A. Banks

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

It was okay. There was a lot of questing and looking for lost powers and new ones to unlock that I found intreging but after a while I just wanted the story to move along. Felt like a pokemon adventure with various level ups.

Paranatural and Other Stories by Zack Morrison

Paranatural

A few weeks ago I found a web comic called paranormal. It's about a boy who moves to a new town. He discovers that said town is full of ghost and spirits that he can see. He soon meets other kids at his new school that can see them to! As it turns out him and the other kids also have "super powers" and are able to fight certain spirits that get out of line.

What I like most about this web comic are the characters. They are very energetic and fun. Reminds me of the fun I had as a child watching Saturday morning cartoons. This web comic has great potential and I hope it will continue to be a fun read.

Sengoku Strays

Japanese shōnen manga series by Japanese author Shingo Nanami
Kasane is your average kendo-obsessed girl, when a brush with a mysterious sword sends her back in time to the Sengoku Era. Stuck in an unfamiliar time and place, Kasane also has the poor luck of winding up right in the middle of the turmoil that surrounded Oda Nobunaga's rise to power!
Comments
I found this at random while looking for something new to read. Even though its only one chapter the art and action pacing was enough to motivate me to continue reading.
Sengoku Strays is currently published in Japan by SQUARE ENIX. Until it gets here read it at Manga Volume.

Evil Clone

One day I was walking on the street to my nearest mail box. Along the way I saw someone that looked almost like me across the street.

It was weird.

I paid no mind because you know staring was bad. As we passed each other going in our opposite directions I began to wonder.

Where did this evil clone come from?

I dropped the main in the box and proceeded to go home. Hmm,

If she's my evil colone then she would be the exact opposite of me. What kind of person am I? and based on that who would be the evil clone? Me or Her.

The best piece of advice that was given to me

Anyone can learn anything.

I had always thought that most people were born knowing all the skills they needed. However, most people were just exceptionally given in particular areas. For example in art or just a naturally smart person. In my case I was neither fully artistic or naturally smart and I wanted to be just that.

Well one day I was reading about and artist from the book All American girl. And I thought wow "I wish I could draw like her". As I kept reading there was an authors note from her that stated anyone can learn anything if they want to and are fully determined to so. That woke me up. It didn't matter if some someone was an amazing artist or genius out in society way better than me. What mattered most was to start doing what I loved and go for it with all my heart and determination. So, I picked up a pencil and started drawing something (honestly I don't remember I probably drew the little Mermaid).

So anyone can learn to do anything.

I'd go to 2015 for the food

The first thing I would do is go to a MacDonalds and see if it tastes the same. Maybe fast food nation and super size me actually had a positive outcome. Also, I would want to see the fashion hopefully by then we'll stop ripping off the worst and most embarrassing fashion of the past decade or just to see which ones we picked.

Using the word "Maybe" to tease is a crime.

Personally I'm okay with most people and their behaviors. However, what really annoys me sometimes is the word "Maybe" and the phrase "Maybe your right". I mostly cant take it when a guy says the latter part. I'm not sure why but it feels as if their challenging my intelligence or just teasing me.

Age of Conversation 2 : 2008

"Did you know that people breath air?", I said.

"Hmmm, maybe your right…."

or

"Do you think we can go out to eat?

"Maybe..."

"Awww that sucks..."

Oh and another one is, "suppose" and "I suppose your right"

"Did you know that Earth has gravity?"

"Hmmm, I suppose your right"

Well, maybe the latter part is forgivable. I mean really, gravity might not exist on Earth. Everything we learned in school might all have been lies. You never know.

'Star Wars' my eyes love this movie

Its an underdog story and a redemption story at the same time.

A young Pilot not learns about an an ancient order created to keep pecies throughout the galaxy and becomes the last Jedi to take down a horrible emperor.

It's funny because this movie came out so long ago before I was born and was such a huge hit. I didn't get a chance to see it until I was a teenager in early 2000s. Whats amazing the most about this movie experience above all others, is before I saw the movie no one told me anything about the plot. Nothing at all.

Whenever I asked about the movie fans would just tell me that it was "amazing and I needed to see it".

I would reply, "Can I at least get some sound clips or or a hint?"

"Nope nothing, you need to see it"

And when I finally saw it was amazing. It was one of the best Science Fiction movies I had ever seen in my life.

The Enchanted Forest Chronicles by Patricia C. Wrede

dragons

The Enchanted Forest Chronicles © Patricia C. Wrede

Summary

"Dealing with Dragons" introduces Princess Cimorene, youngest daughter of the king of Linderwall. Like most medieval tomboys, Cimorene is considered rough, unseemly and stubborn -- she wants to fight with swords and learn magic. On the advice from a magic frog, she goes out in search of a dragon to
be housekeeper for. But when she's not sending away valiant knights, she's dealing with some very troublesome wizards...

"Searching For Dragons" picks up when the dragon Kazul goes mysteriously missing. Cimorene is, unsurprisingly, very concerned about this and wants to find her. Enter Mendanbar, a young king as unconventional as Cimorene -- not to mention in need of a wife. But even though he goes along to find Kazul, with wizards and laughter all around, he'll find that he's much more interested in Cimorene.

"Calling on Dragons" skips ahead to when Cimorene and Mendanbar are mrried, and Queen Cimorene is pregnant. All is right, right? Wrong. Magic is vanishing in the Enchanted Forest; the king's sword has been stolen. To combat the troublesome wizards, Morwen the witch teams up with Cimorene, Kazul, Telemain the Magician, and a rabbit called Killer.

"Talking to Dragons" skips ahead even further, to when Daystar is sent off by his mom Cimorene with only a magic sword. Poor kid -- he has to help King Mendanbar escape from an evil wizard's spell, without knowing that Mendanbar is his father. He teams up with a hot-tempered firewitch, Shiara, a dragon, a lizard, and a rather annoying princess. Can Daystar clue in before all is lost?

Review/Comments

When I found these books I had a set idea of how fantasy was supposed to be written. There would be a princess that would need to be saved from dragon and a prince that would save her. Or if it follows Arthurian tales, it would be filled with great hope and later betrayal and tragedy. The enchanted forest chronicles would shatter all those myths. I got a better understanding that fantasy standards could be broken to create something fun and remarkable. Harry Potter and Artemis Fowl series would follow Werde’s example of creating worlds based on fantasy/folk myths and adding their own essence to the genre.

About comiXology™

Comixology™ brings Web 2.0 to the comic book market. It provides your weekly list of new releases in a format that allows you to view each issue individually, displaying cover art, credits, description, price, page count, and other information. Registered users can add items to a pull list, rate items using 'bag it' and 'burn it' buttons, and comment on items. The site will soon include weekly columns, blogs, and more.~ ComiXology | About Us

I’m a big fan of web 2.0 and how its capable of making life easier. I love comics but I don’t have the time to keep up with new releases. For years now I’ve stopped going to comic book stores and started using Amazon.com to find new reading material. Unfortunately, Amazon can be biased to what material I find. On comiXology all the big titles are fed when they are released and I can find new comics to read “pull them onto a list” or purchase right then and there.
